Senior/Principal Research Associate, Protein SciencesYurogen Biosystems LLC, a rapidly expanding biotechnology company, seeks an energetic and self-motivated individual with extensive experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, or protein science. As part of our dynamic team, you will collaborate with talented scientists to drive mAb and protein development and production projects. We seek a long-term partner to help translate scientific breakthroughs into reliable products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality protein and protein complex reagents relevant to the project scope.
- Establish and maintain in-house mammalian/prokaryote cell expression systems for custom protein/antibody production.
- Independently design and execute the custom protein production workflows.
- Contribute to the preparation, purification, and characterization of biologicals.
- Perform downstream biochemical and biophysical analytics on purified protein lots to evaluate and optimize stability, solubility, purity, etc.
- Lead a small team of 2-3 scientists/technicians.
- Work in highly cross-functional teams and significantly impact the organization.
- Provide project updates, analysis, and advice to cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Assist with general lab upkeep.
- Support and contribute to implementing state-of-the-art structural and biophysical techniques to improve the protein production workflow and platform
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 4-6 years of experience or Master's degree with 2-4 years of experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Molecular Biology, Protein Science, or related fields.
- Excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude. Efficient time management, organizational skills, and a passion for high-quality translational science.
- Extensive hands-on experience with recombinant protein/antibody production.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including construct design, molecular cloning, bacterial transformation, and plasmid purification.
- Proven expertise in producing recombinant proteins/antibodies in E. coli and mammalian systems; familiarity with other expression systems (fungal/yeast/plant) is a plus.
- Extensive hands-on experience in protein purification techniques, including affinity chromatography, size-exclusion chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, and hydrophobic interaction chromatography. Experience with the purification of complex proteins (e.g., membrane proteins) is desirable.
- Experience with biochemical and biophysical techniques for protein-ligand characterization (e.g., SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, UV-VIS, SPR, BLI, ELISA, DSF, DLS, etc.).
- Ability to follow protocols, SOPs, and safety practices.
- Adaptive to rapid changes in project priorities and timelines.
- Experience in leading or managing teams is a plus.
